Happy Lunar New Year!

It's my fifth year celebrating the Lunar New Year in Taipei! This is the first year that I feel like it has some competition with Christmas...but only for the amount of rest I am finally able to get! In Taiwan, nothing slows down in November for Thanksgiving, December for Christmas, or even for New Year's Day. Everything is still go-go-go until mid-late January/February for Lunar New Year, when everyone finally stops to rest for a whole week to be with their family and loved ones.

Since moving to Taipei, I've appreciated getting to spend these holidays with my parents. It feels like I am almost transported back to childhood when we finally have time to sit on the couch, eat ice cream, and watch TV together. As we all get older each year, I have grown to appreciate the simple, and seemingly mundane moments that I get to share with the ones I love.
